ENERGY EFFICIENT/COOL ROOF SYSTEMS: ERA believes any effort to create energy savings and peak load reductions requires intelligent decision-making and due consideration of all aspects of a roofing system.  This would include roof design, thermal performance, and the impact of normal wear and damage caused by extreme conditions.  Reviewing all of these factors is the best way for roofing professional to produce a truly energy efficient roofing system.

GARDEN/VEGETATIVE ROOFS: Roof gardens are an increasingly attractive proposition, to reduce the effects of urban heat islands, manage storm water runoff, provide new economic benefits through use of additional valuable space, create year-round energy efficiency and possibly qualify the building's owners for LEED points, As with any high-performance roofing system, garden roofs require careful planning and the use of quality materials, including EPDM membrane.

Technical Data: LONG-TERM PERFORMANCE: As one of the most sustainable roofing materials used today in the construction industry, EPDM offers low life cycle costs. EPDM roofing systems therefore offer the greatest economic value in the low-slope commercial roofing industry. Less frequent replacement results in decreased building disruptions and even creates reduced impact on the environment.

WEATHER AND FIRE PERFORMANCE: EPDM membrane not only provides greater sustainability in normal weather conditions, but continues to outperform other materials under most extreme conditions. Documented evidence shows EPDM suffers the least damage against fire, hail and other unusual conditions, living up to its promise as the top performing value product in the roofing industry.
